Getting Started

From The Home County Wiki

Getting Started follows your first steps on the Isle: recruit a villager, establish their home, then grow a community that can restore the Crystal Garden.

Your first villager

The introductory quest gives three steps:

  1. Visit Captain Brook at the Beach and recruit a villager.
  2. After the recruitment letter, use the build menu to construct a shack in your Village.
  3. Wait for the villager to move in.

Recruitment and housing go together: a recruited worker needs a home before their village work becomes available.

Build the community

Each worker opens up a different part of village life. Follow their production guide for the required buildings, unlock levels and item uses.

Villager Role Where to begin
Wren Farmer Crop gardens and growing crops
Daisy Gardener Flower gardens and growing flowers
Juliette Artisan Turning ingredients into artisan goods
Theodore Beekeeper Beehives, honey, wax and candles
Dr. Rupert Herdsman Coops, barns and animal products

The Getting Started II quest asks you to recruit the gardener, artisan, beekeeper and herdsman. Completing it rewards 500 florens.

Restore the Crystal Garden

The Crystal Garden is the main long-term restoration project. Open its collections to see the exact items and quantities needed, then move suitable items from your inventory into each display. The displays cover farming, gardening, animals, beekeeping, fishing, foraging, crafting and more.

Collections and village goals award tokens. The Crystal Garden's fountain lets you spend tokens on upgrades. Keeping a copy of a collection item before selling your surplus avoids having to find or produce it again later.

A useful daily routine

  • Read your letters and quests. The first recruitment letter guides the next housing step; quests show your current objectives. Daily requests appear on the notice board, and their deadlines matter.
  • Work with the current weather. Plant the crops and flowers suited to heatwaves or cold fronts, and gather the berries and fungi available in the current conditions.
  • Visit your workers' buildings. Collect ready crops and products, start new work, and attend to plots or dwellings that need repairs or feed.
  • Choose something to explore. Follow the Isle map, go fishing, visit the beach for shells and fossils, or progress through the mines.
  • Keep the Crystal Garden in view. Set aside missing collection items and use the remainder for production, requests or sale.
